Nissan Rogue buying guide: Which trim is right for you?

The Rogue is Canada's best-selling SUV. Here's how to pick the right trim without overpaying for features you won't use.

The Rogue lineup at a glance

The 2024–2025 Nissan Rogue comes in four trims: S → SV → SL → Platinum. All come standard with the 1.5L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine (201 hp) and the Xtronic CVT.

Trim-by-trim breakdown

Rogue S — best value for practical buyers Standard equipment includes ProPilot Assist (hands-on semi-autonomous driving), Nissan Safety Shield 360 (6 active safety systems), Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, and 17-inch alloys. FWD or AWD.

Rogue SV — the sweet spot (most popular) Adds heated front seats, 8-inch infotainment upgrade, remote start, and a power liftgate. The SV accounts for the majority of Rogue sales — it's the trim most buyers end up happiest with.

Rogue SL — premium without Platinum price Adds leather seating, Bose 10-speaker audio, heated rear seats, a 360-degree camera, and hands-free liftgate. Where the SV starts to feel like a luxury vehicle.

Rogue Platinum — the full list Adds a panoramic roof, digital rearview mirror, head-up display, and tri-zone climate. About $5,000 more than SL. Worth it if you want the panoramic roof specifically.

AWD: Worth the premium?

In BC, yes — especially if you do any highway driving in winter. The Rogue's AWD system is torque-vectoring and engages automatically. The price premium is approximately $2,000–$2,500 over FWD.

New vs. used Rogue

The 2022–2023 redesign was a significant upgrade over prior generations. CPO examples from 2022+ represent excellent value — same platform, significantly lower price, and full CPO warranty.

Questions to ask before you buy

1. How many km do you drive annually? (affects AWD value) 2. Do you need the panoramic roof? (only on Platinum) 3. Will you use the heated seats regularly? (if yes, at minimum SV) 4. How long will you keep it? (affects new vs. CPO math)
